Big Show vs Rob Van Dam vs Hardcore Holly vs Bobby Lashley vs Test vs CM Punk (ECW, 12-3-2006)

ECW December to Dismember, Augusta, GA

A request. It’s the EXTREME Elimination Chamber for Big Show’s fake ECW title. These Extremists will be extreming all over the ECW hotbed of Augusta, Georgia!

This Chamber is different from normal: It has weapons. Extreme weapons!

(Requests open and tips always appreciated!)

The Miz & John Morrison vs The Boogeyman & CM Punk (ECW, 8-21-2007)

ECW on Sci Fi, Columbia, SC

A request! A two-pack of CM Punk and unusual tag partners in on “ECW.” Here we have Punk and his great friend, The Boogeyman, against John Morrison and The Miz, which airs just a few days after a Saturday Night’s Main Event where Punk and Boogeyman teamed against Morrison and Big Daddy V.

That’s the show that had the Evander Holyfield vs Matt Hardy boxing match, yes. This was all moving toward Morrison defending his ECW title against Punk at SummerSlam on the Sunday following this show.

(Requests open and tips always appreciated!)

Shelton Benjamin & Elijah Burke vs CM Punk & Ric Flair (ECW, 2-19-2008)

ECW on Sci Fi, San Diego, CA

A request! We’re back in business.

Joey Styles at the top of the show sounds like he’d rather be anywhere else on the planet when he calls this “ECW.” Then we get Ric Flair to join Tazzzzz in the ring to be congratulated for being named in the 2008 Hall of Fame class.

Jeff Hardy vs CM Punk (WWE, 8-23-2009)

WWE SummerSlam, Los Angeles, CA

A request! It’s a TLC match for The World Heavyweight Championship, held by Jeff Hardy, who had won the belt at Extreme Rules in June, beating Edge. Then CM Punk did his Money in the Bank cash-in immediately. And THEN at Night of Champions in July, Hardy beat Punk to win the belt a second time.

So now we’re here. CM Punk is straight edge man, a rules rocker, and Jeff Hardy is ……. not.

CM Punk vs Samoa Joe (AEW, 8-27-2023)

AEW All In: London, London, England

Well, I reckon this one really might have been it for ol’ CM Punk, as he did go ahead and get himself fired after this match at Wembley Stadium.

I’m a CM Punk fan. Will always be a CM Punk fan, I suspect, unless he does something more heinous than not like some wrestlers I don’t know personally and may be every bit as annoying as he believes they are. But I also kinda felt like this was going to be it once the reports started flying around. He didn’t seem to want to be there at all. And I think, in the end, that CM Punk and pro wrestling in the 2020s may just be incompatible. It’s a world he’s not built for, and a world not built for him. Something had to give, and it did. Repeatedly.

CM Punk vs Seth Rollins (WWE, 12-30-2013)

WWE Monday Night Raw, Richmond, VA

A request! It’s from the final Raw of 2013. It’s episode 1,075, they were really horny to tell you what episode number it was for a bit there.

This is the only singles match (I think you’re supposed to call that a “one-on-one encounter” in WWESpeak) these two ever had.

Ryback & Paul Heyman vs CM Punk (WWE, 10-27-2013)

WWE Hell in a Cell, Miami, FL

A request! What a follow-up to the CM Punk vs Ryback Hell in a Cell match at Hell in a Cell 2012, it’s CM Punk vs Ryback & Paul Heyman in a Hell in a Cell match at Hell in a Cell 2013!

What a turn of events! Punk and Heyman had parted ways in the spring, leading to a Punk vs Lesnar match at SummerSlam, which was great, and also some stuff with Curtis Axel, which I do remember happening and little more, and then Ryback became A Paul Heyman Guy, helping Heyman pin Punk in a match at Night of Champions.

CM Punk vs Samoa Joe (AEW, 7-8-2023)

AEW Collision, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada

I was hoping to get in all the previous Joe vs Punk matches before this inevitably came up, but I didn’t. I only watched rightfully non-famous ROH and PWG matches, but I want to see this without being spoiled and I couldn’t watch live, so I gotta just GIT-R-DONE!!

This is a semifinal match in this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament.

CM Punk vs Ryback (WWE, 10-28-2012)

WWE Hell in a Cell, Atlanta, GA

A request! I don’t think I’ve ever watched this match. I have heard it was extremely bad!

Punk is defending the WWE championship in the Cell against Ryback, who is undefeated since returning to WWE with this name in April, a 38-0 streak. Vince “Mister” McMahon made Punk choose either Ryback or John Cena as his opponent, and Punk took too long, so McMahon made it Ryback, with Cena’s endorsement. (Cena was hurt, I think.)

CM Punk & FTR vs Samoa Joe, Jay White & Juice Robinson (AEW, 6-17-2023)

AEW Collision, Chicago, IL

Went to this show! Great time! My first AEW show, Punk back in the company, Chicago. United Center is a damn sight better venue than Allstate Arena out in Rosemont, I can say that, but Allstate is OK, it’s basically just, you know, a crucial ~15 years older. A lot changes with this stuff in 15 years. And shit, at this pointed the United Center is nearly 30 years old.

I just kinda wanted to watch this back again.
