Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn (WWE, 4-11-2021)

WWE WrestleMania 37, Tampa, FL

They found a way, however goofy, to do Owens-Zayn at WrestleMania. I am good with it. Good for the boys, even if Logan Paul is involved, and I do enjoy that they got Paul involved to have Sami Zayn kinda make fun of him, possibly without Paul noticing.

The Miz vs Sami Zayn vs Cesaro vs Kevin Owens (WWE, 5-22-2016)

WWE Extreme Rules, Newark, NJ

A request! This is a Fatal 4-Way for the Intercontinental championship, which The Miz is defending against Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro. Real World Mike and the indie scum in Newark!

Adrian Neville vs Tyson Kidd vs Sami Zayn vs Tyler Breeze (NXT, 9-11-2014)

NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way, Winter Park, FL

This is a request. It’s actually a match I thought about watching the other day but then didn’t. Neville is your NXT champion, while the other three are not. This was so long ago Neville had a first name, and nobody was calling him “Pack.”

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sami Zayn (NXT, 4-1-2016)

NXT TakeOver: Dallas, Dallas, TX

Another request. Haven’t watched this one in a while but like pretty much everyone, absolutely lost my shit watching it live (on WWE Network, I wasn’t there). This is Nakamura’s NXT debut, and just seeing him in a WWE ring figured to be insane, and it was. Zayn was the perfect choice for opponent; he remained a key figure in NXT, but had already debuted on the main roster and was going to be staying there. And style-wise, he was a guy who could do what Nakamura knew how to do, before Nakamura got the chance to adapt and, well, settle into a half to three-quarters speed groove.

NXT TakeOver: R-Evolution, Winter Park, FL

This is a request via Ko-fi.

The match is title (Neville’s NXT championship) vs career (Zayn’s in NXT). It was last chance time for Sami to finally climb the mountain and win the NXT title. NXT had done a great job painting Sami as a guy who “couldn’t win the big one.” They’d established that Neville was willing to do anything to win, despite not being a heel, while Zayn just wasn’t able to bring himself to capitalize on an injury in a previous match they had. This was a match with great build and great promos leading up, and really felt like a big match.

El Generico vs 1-2-3 Kid (CHIKARA, 4-17-2011)

CHIKARA King of Trios, Philadelphia, PA

Requested review. I never loved El Generico, because I found it goofy and a little weird, to be honest, I don’t know if I wanna say racist, because I’m a white dude so what do I know about it, really, but definitely weird. I have similar problem with El Ligero, but also find him dull in the ring. Generico was not, and I’ve never watched this match, and I enjoy the ol’ X-Kid, so yeehaw.
