Ric Flair & Arn Anderson vs Rock n’ Roll Express (NWA, 10-14-1990)

NWA Main Event, Gainesville, GA

These teams aren’t feuding at the time, but they had plenty of history from the mid-80s. So in theory there’s some good stuff to dig into here.

No. Instead, these guys are working pretty relaxed, let’s say. Not quite so blatant as the Doom-RNRs match that went to a time limit draw, but severe time wasting and stalling. Jim Ross starts just making shit up about the Horsemen “dominating” this match. Literally nothing has happened other than Arn Anderson insisting he didn’t pull anyone’s hair and then Flair coming in and taking a couple shots.

Rock n’ Rolls had some lousy TV matches in ’90. Not because they weren’t still good or the opponents were bad, they just got calls to go fill TV time with low effort. Flair and Anderson do take over, with a possibly hungover Ricky Morton giving maybe the worst performance I’ve ever seen from him, just constantly seems off a step. Flair lights him up with chops and talks some shit while doing it.

Ross continues calling a match that is not existing in front of him, trying to spice this lazy mess up. Gibson gets a hot tag and even that sucks, honestly. He goes to a sleephold almost immediately. This is a shit match. RNRs double dropkick looks lousy. Horsemen win when Arn hits the DDT on Morton behind the ref’s back, allowing Flair to get the pin.

It’s a pretty good match if you like watching Ricky Morton wrestle like he’s constantly eight seconds away from doing a Jack Daniel’s and Busch bubbleguts mess in his drawers.
