Mr. McMahon vs Ric Flair (WWE, 3-17-2008)

Ric Flair’s career is STILL ON THE LINE! This is a street fight.

Earlier today, in a WWE.com exclusive, Vince McMahon spoke enthusiastically about being inducted into (onto?) the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He’s done all these great things, he has grandkids. He wants to top it all. “What can I do to top all that? I know — I could end Ric Flair’s career tonight! That’s what I’m gonna do! This is what’s gonna happen, it’s gonna be Ric Flair one-on-one with me, Vincent Kennedy McMahon!” The WrestleMania match with Shawn Michaels has already been booked, but Vince is itching to end Flair himself.

Bell sounds and they square up, then Vince throws a bad right hand and Flair blocks and unloads with….some brawling. Flair stomps on McMahon. “McMahon a noted street fighter,” Jim Ross tells me. OK.

The fight goes to the floor and Flair beats on Vince on top of the commentary desk. Flair just kicking McMahon’s ass here. They spill out into the crowd and Flair keeps kicking his ass with right hands and chops. Vince sent back over the barricade. Flair keeps beating him up.

Then Vince posts Flair, and since it’s a Vince match, Flair gets the green light to bleed in the middle of Monday Night RAW. McMahon takes a monitor and lightly hits Flair in the head, and Ric staggers around.

McMahon stalks over to him and throws horrendous punches, then throws Flair back into the ring. McMahon covers and gets two. McMahon back out to the floor, looking under the ring, and finds a trash can, which he brings back into the ring. He bops Flair on the head with it. Cover gets two.

McMahon back outside and looking under the ring again. He finds a kendo stick. Back in, Flair staggers over and eats a bad kendo stick shot, then a slightly better kendo stick shot, and Vince covers again for two.

So old man number two goes back out and looks under the ring for a third time. Now he’s got a steel chair, ho-ho-ho. Chairshot to Flair’s head. McMahon covers, two count, and Shawn Michaels pulls the referee out of the ring. The good thing to remember is that Vince McMahon had Ric Flair beaten clean in this street fight.

Now Vince finds a table under the ring. McMahon is gassed. He’s not a cardio guy. McMahon sets the table up but Flair hits him in the nuts twice and puts Vince on the table. Flair hammers down on Vince and goes out to climb, WOOing on the apron and hitting a splash through the table. Flair climbs over, pins Vince, and gets the three count.

Rating: 3/5. Fuck it, this was fun. Vince’s offense looked terrible, but he made up for it by hitting Flair with weapons. Vince had to make it clear he should have won, but he made up for it by getting put through a table. Flair bled on a RAW midcard match. And on he goes to WrestleMania.
