WCW Saturday Night, Salina, KS

This is Bret’s only in-ring appearance on The Mothership, renewing aggression with Booker T. This isn’t on WWE Network, but is on YouTube.

Bret reluctant to get into the ring. Hart offers a handshake, I think, video quality sucks. Booker isn’t having it. Hart pleading his case to the bumpkins in Kansas. Bell sounds, C&E, Hart maneuvers Booker into the corner. He gives a clean break, then offers the hand again. Small room act.

Bret stalling, stalling, stalling. This isn’t a long match and he’s not here to work, baby. Booker with a hammerlock. Hart counters, Booker counters back. Hart gets the ropes. Hart arguing with the crowd, turns around and gets shoved by Booker. This is ’98 WCW C-show wrestling, by God.

C&E again, Hart shoves Booker back to the corner. This time, he doesn’t break clean, going to the ribs and then the head. Eye rake. Headbutt to the back, forearm to the back. Bret stomping him down near the ropes, using the ropes to spring up. Hart chokes Booker in the corner.

Whip to the other corner, Booker hits hard and goes down. Hart plays to the crowd some more. They are telling Bret Hart that he sucks. Right hands and kicks in the corner from Hart. Booker blocks a whip, knee to the gut, kick to the chest, spin kick upstairs. Kick to the gut, off the ropes, axe kick from Booker.

Booker misses an elbow, but spinaroonies up and hits another side kick, and Bret bails to the floor. Booker follows, but Bret catches him coming in, hits him with the chair, and that’s the DQ. Another chairshot. He rolls Booker back into the ring.

Hart goes into the ring and applies the sharpshooter. Chuck Robinson trying nicely to convince Bret to let go, and eventually he does. Now Bret drags Booker over to the post. Hart gets the chair again and goes to whack Booker in the knee, but Stevie Ray, Hart’s pal from nWo Hollywood, runs in and puts a stop to it. Bret backs down and leaves. And that’s that.

Rating: 2/5. I mean it’s fine for what it is, a WCW weekend main event between stars who are there to phone it in for five minutes.
