WWF on MSG Network, New York, NY

This is from the Rampage ’91 Coliseum Video tape.

Heenan: “Warlord’s a lot bigger.”
Monsoon: “Tornado’s a lot quicker, Brain.”
Heenan: “Warlord’s a lot stronger.”
Monsoon: “Tornado’s a lot smarter, Brain.”
Heenan: “Now you have lied to the people.”
Monsoon: “No, I have not.”
Heenan: “He’s from Texas, he can’t be smarter!”
Monsoon: “Warlord’s stuck for an answer when you say hello!”

Warlord shows the crowd that he’s very strong by doing a flex. C&E start, Warlord shoves Kerry into the corner, then does a flex. C&E again, Kerry shoves Warlord away just a bit and does a flex. Warlord is mad. HE does the flexing!

Test of strength offered by Warlord, Kerry doesn’t go for it at first, but then he does. Warlord with the advantage, he’s taller and probably stronger to begin with. Kerry powers up, Warlord with a knee to the belly and powers Kerry back down. Warlord gets a two count and Von Erich powers up again. Kerry kicks out, runs with a shoulderblock, no movement, but then catches a boot from Warlord and hits him with the discus punch, only for Warlord to stay up.

Off the ropes, Von Erich caught in a bearhug, the worst move in wrestling, or so I hear. We stay in that for a bit before an ear clapper from Kerry breaks the hold. Warlord with a double axhandle to the back, Kerry falls out to the floor. Von Erich rammed into the steps. Warlord does some posing. Warlord back out and rams Kerry into the ringpost.

Von Erich on the apron, blocks a right hand, hits a shoulderblock through the ropes, and then a sloppy sloppy sunset flip, which Warlord blocks on account of being very strong. Warlord run into the corner. “Run” might be too strong a word. Another shot to the back from Warlord. Von Erich up with some right hands, lifts Warlord for a slam, but can’t hold him up and Warlord gets two.

Warlord scoops Von Erich and hits a backbreaker. Warlord misses what passes for a splash in this match. Roundhouse rights from Kerry, off the ropes, clothesline. Clothesline. Warlord still up. Discus punch! Cover, two, Warlord gets his foot on the bottom rope.

Von Erich grabs a sleephold, but Warlord walks it to the ropes and they go over the top, with Tornado hitting the apron. They brawl on the outside, trading shots. Von Erich tries to slip back into the ring at nine, but he doesn’t get there quick enough. It’s a double countout.

Rating: 1.5/5. Lazy MSG match. Watchable because this tape is a childhood favorite and the era of WWF is one of my favorites because I was a little kid then. Otherwise a lousy match, dull from start to finish other than some good commentary work by Monsoon, Heenan, and Jim Neidhart.
